I had just recently moved. I moved from a 3 bedroom house into a 4 bedroom house. It was an odd situation so we had to move fast! It turned out our landlord wasn't really the homeowner but a tenant!! But that's another story for another day. So new homeowners bought the house from the real homeowner. So we were offered $4,500 cash to move into a new home.. Great! But wait.. The catch was we had to be out in 8 days! That was the agreement.. So that meant looking at anywhere from 3-6 houses a day ( and I don't have great credit so it was difficult ) ANd packing for 5 people and taking care of my kids while my husband got to just go to work.. Day 6 comes and still NOTHING! I'm ripping my hair out I got maybe a quarter of the packing done cause u know life 3 kids aged 2,7&12 and running from one house to the next... Then I find a 4 bedroom by owner... Just listed on Craig's list..jackpot! We go look at it on the 7th day the new homeowner meets us there with 3,500 last thousand we get when we move our stuff out we put a down payment and take it... One day left to finish packing.. What do u do? I was trying to get rid of ALOT of stuff before moving.. Perfect time to declutter and start fresh but now there's no time now I'm just packing everything! It was a nightmare! I packed and loaded moving trucks and unloaded moving trucks for over 36 hours straight! It was difficult and crueling we were moved into our new house by 8:30 am and completely had all our belongings in the house.. Everything was stuffed into the living room thank goodness it was a big one! Literally everything was stacked higher than me u couldn't even step into the living room we had o have the moving truck back by 8am because it was already rented out for the next day. Unpacking? Now with school starting, it was September 1st again 3 kids and trying to get my kids registered for school. That was another nightmare I just wanted to get my house set up! It was exhausting! I just did little by little eventually everything was pretty much unpacked and set up..or shoved in a closet. I needed to find the time to go through everything. I was. It happy I just wanted to clean everything out but never had the time always running around. Now I've been stuck in the house with blizzard and snow storms and freezing rain and then a sick baby.. So stuck in the house with the exception for walking to the bustop to get kids to and from school, what do u do? What I've been wanting to but haven't had the time.. Decluttering time! Yes! Kept me sane.. Haha. I went through every closet which was pretty much just filled with boxes that were still unpacked. One by one went through every box. I had a garbage bag. A keeping box and donate box that is a great system! In the last two weeks I have got rid of so much stuff I've never had such a feeling of success! I've cleaned out my cabinets my junk drawers they were all so stuffed u couldn't even open them now I have a pens pencils markers etc drawer. A phone, phone charger and accessorie drawer! The key is to take one section at a time otherwise you overwhelm yourself. I was famous for starting projects making a bigger mess than being fed up and shove everything back where it was. Now I've learned to take one small box or bin or drawer and start with that then go to the next one and the next one. I've accomplished more in the last two weeks than I could imagine.if it seems impossible to declutter your house it's not! Believe me ! U just need the patience and time! If you haven't used it in 6 months and don't think ur gonna use it for another 6 months get rid of it! Ull never use it! I promise! My next tackle is the kids playroom! That's a project and a half in itself!! Any advice on decluttering? Want to share your decluttering story? Please share in the comments! I can always use new cleaning tips! And I'm so u can too!
